Responsible Growth Message

A Message from Dave Kiser
Kodak is now a digital company. Digital revenues exceeded those from film and other traditional products for the first time in 2005. While the digital world necessarily changes the nature of our responsibilities to health, safety and the environment, our commitment to responsible growth and continuous improvement remains unchanged.
For Kodak, "Responsible Growth" on a global scale means reducing our impact on the environment, protecting the safety of our employees and customers, and supporting the communities where we do business - while ensuring the sustained growth and profitability of the company.
At the heart of this commitment is a singular objective; continuous improvement in everything we do. During this time of transition, continuous improvement means allocating resources to respond to the new challenges associated with the digital business, while continuing our progress to reduce the environmental impacts associated with our traditional business.
In 2003, Kodak established its second set of 5-year HSE goals. These voluntary goals were designed to reduce emissions, conserve resources and enhance the company's product stewardship and employee safety. In 2005, Kodak met or surpassed all of its manufacturing-focused HSE goals that were to be completed by 2008. These aggressive, five-year goals were achieved well ahead of schedule by implementing lean manufacturing practices and reducing manufacturing assets ahead of the decline of traditional photographic products.
In alignment with our commitment to continuous improvement, a new set of Responsible Growth goals have been developed. These new voluntary worldwide goals focus on the areas of social responsibility, product responsibility and operational responsibility. As a digital company, we recognize the need to increase our emphasis on product stewardship and build strong relationships with Kodak suppliers.
Our commitment to environmental health and safety excellence complements our commitment to global sustainability. We're extremely pleased to receive continuing external recognition of this excellence. For example, Kodak was once again named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, the FTSE4Good Index and the "Global 100 - Most Sustainable Corporations in the World" listing. Such recognition comes only through the sustained focus and drive for excellence by Kodak people worldwide.
I will continue the drive for excellence in all areas of health, safety and the environment throughout Kodak's worldwide operations.
